About SDL Arts
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Hello, my name is Selina Lovett and I am the artist and owner of SDL ARTS. Since most of my products are related to animals, I can tell you that I have been a Nature enthusiast all my life, was a Girl Scout all the way, and I even worked for the MA Audubon Society for 10 years.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Education from Emerson College, and a CNAA Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Technology from Plymouth Polytechnic (now University) in Plymouth, England. I have held many jobs in the high tech field and marketing and events, including craft events for children. I hope to be doing some craft events teaching teens and adults how to make Storyboxes!
ABOUT THE COMPANY
SDL ARTS is an online store specializing in both nature-inspired products and products made out of wood! It is divided into three sections: Crafted Storyboxes, Nature Photography and Greeting & Note Cards. The first part of the company was started in 2003, when I started taking photographs of wild animals, birds and other living beings. People started commenting on how great my photos were, and then I came to realize that many of the animals seemed to be posing for me, and looked directly at me when I clicked the shutter. The photos seemed to be telling me stories, and the animals looked like they could be saying something humans might be saying. Or, at least, what I thought they might be saying, so I put words in their mouths in a humorous sort of way. Thus, the Card business started.
Much later on I started to get interested in crafting, and in 2020 began to paint wooden boxes as a hobby, which soon became an obsession, as I kept finding more and more wonderful objects to decorate them with. Thus, the three parts of the company. So far. I also am writing children’s stories, some to go along with the boxes, which is why they are called “Storyboxes”.
